Business Entity: The HW organization in Cisco Bangalore is developing next generation networking architectures for all major Service Provider (SP) networks.
Team: The mechanical & thermal team is an integrated part of HW organization, responsible of varieties of complex electro-mechanical designs which includes but not limited to central office networking products (product ranges from 1RU to 42RU sizes), outdoor mobility equipment, high performance thermal solutions and complex PCB assemblies. We are looking for exceptional thermal engineers to help in these development activities, who are passionate about thermal and flow sciences and like to work on innovative solutions to deliver on best in class networking products.
Required qualifications:-
Education & Experience:-
- BS/MS/PhD in mechanical/thermal engineering with a minimum of 12+ years of work experience and a strong background in implementing thermal designs for standalone and rack-mount chassis systems used in telecom industries.
- Responsible to support thermal design requirements for telecom systems which include system, board, and package level designs.
- Responsible for thermal performance assessment, improvements and optimization of such designs using thermal simulations, experimentation and validation techniques
- Work with cross-functional teams to define system thermal specifications, work with suppliers to get thermal data, preparing thermal simulation reports, develop test plans and submitting test reports with final recommendations.
Skills
- FloTherm/ Icepak thermal simulation expertise is must, experience with any commercial structural analysis tool is desirable
- Hands-on experience with thermal and airflow validation techniques using thermocouples & data acquisition systems, flow-benches (wind-tunnel), flow sensors and concepts of acoustic measurements
- Experience in 3D modeling of sheet-metal enclosure and PCB layout designs would be an added advantage
- Excellent oral & written communication skills and ability to interact with marketing & customers on project objectives
- Good understanding of safety and regulatory compliance requirements for telecom equipment
