Job Description SUMMARY OF POSITION
Under general supervision, this position has a strong focus on maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing critical process equipment on all systems. A very high percentage of “wrench time” is expected. Individual is expected to demonstrate technical expertise in maintenance & troubleshooting and be multi-skilled in other areas (pipe fitting/plumbing, electrical, automation and mechanical) in order to successfully complete daily/weekly work assignments. The individual in this role must be available for Call-in work and to perform other duties as required. The candidate must possess the ability to diagnose and repair equipment without the use of third party vendors. Prior experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment under cGMP’s would be desired.
Major Activities And Responsiblities
Install, operate, maintain, troubleshoot and repair process equipment such as rotating equipment, agitators, blenders, mixers, peristaltic pumps, filtration carts, bioreactors, glass washers, autoclaves, chromatography skids, column skids, drying ovens, incubators, drum inverters, inactivation tanks, and harvest clarifiers.
Should have experience changing out wear parts such as diaphragm gaskets and O rings on production equipment.
Operate efficiently, all equipment used by this trade and maintain in good condition. Inspect and service equipment according to schedule, lubricate maintain and adjust as required.
Ensures that all appropriate repairs and maintenance data is captured on work orders.
Review and analyzing system data reliability in developing initial recommendation with System Engineer on any maintenance changes, upgrades, replacements, etc.
Maintain up to date & complete system documentation in a change control maintenance system (CCMS) for all repairs or changes to the system.
Monitor the operation of process equipment, support systems, and other mechanical and electrical equipment; record readings and make adjustments where necessary to assure proper operation of equipment. Requires the ability to analyze the operation of various systems, determine the cause of any problems/malfunctions and take corrective action as required.
Performs preventive maintenance on all critical system equipment which includes but not limited to: assembling all tools, supplies and instruments necessary to complete the job, performing work with a minimum amount disruption, conducting immediate clean-up of work area, completing the preventive task sheet, returning tools to workshop, and unused supplies to store room, reporting any equipment problems, impending supply or material shortages to the System Engineer.
Install and repairs to plumbing/piping/tubing; install and rebuilds heat exchanger; replace seals/gaskets on pumps; install and repair piping, valves, filters, and associated controls; Installs, repairs, and maintains electrical controls, switching and motor controls, wire single phase and three phase motors (under the direction of the Site Electricians). Assist other mechanics and operators with major repairs and maintenance of building and process support equipment.
Maintains tools and orders supplies as required for installation and repairs.
Complies with departmental policy for the safe storage, usage and disposal of hazardous materials.
Cross train as back up, or others, as appropriate to the advanced level.
Maintains a clean and safe workspace.

Background Requirements
Education:
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Vocation or technical school certification.
- Boiler license is a plus.
Experience:
- 5-7 years apprenticeship or equivalent experience in mechanical or associated tasks.
- Experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment under cGMP’s or ISO 9000
- Must have adequate skills to perform required job functions with minimal supervision.
- Must be proficient in computer skills and software such as MS office, Word, Excel, CCMS.
- Good written and verbal skills.
