Retail Sales Manager KeHE Distributors - Madison, WI, US

Primary Responsibility
The Retail Sales Manager is responsible for supervising Sales Associates and Merchandisers in assigned territory. The position requires accountability for sales, sales forecasting, marketing plan development, marketing plan execution, overall store conditions and expense control. The supervisor is responsible for developing subordinate staff and staff planning.

Minimum Requirements
Associates degree or equivalent required. A minimum of two (2) years sales/supervisory experience. Must have valid driver’s license and proof of insurance as defined by company policies.

Essential Functions
Direct work of assigned Sales Associates. Assign territories based on schedule and volume. Establish deadlines; provide guidance and direction on selling and company rules and regulations.
Train Sales Associates on the functions of their position. May provide backup support for Sales Associates when needed.

Complete performance reviews & performance coaching of associates and store audits. Initiate action and approves or recommends approval of promotions, merit increases, transfers, leaves of absences and other personnel actions.

Participate in hiring of new Sales Associates. Screens resumes, interviews, evaluates candidates & assists HR with the offer & start of new associates.

Maintain sales budget & control expenses.

Prepares and provides timely back up for payroll exceptions.

Prospect for new business, gain additional business in existing accounts & execute marketing plans.

Participate in the development and implementation of goal & objectives for the Sales Department. Forecast the Sales Plan & recommend changes.

Generates reports & tracks sales & assigned areas overall performance and store condition using approved procedures.

Other projects or duties as assigned.

Must maintain good attendance.

Maintain safe work practices.

Maintain safeguards of confidential company information.

Qualifications / Additional Skills / Aptitude
Excellent grammar, verbal, and writing skills. Excellent telephone skills and computer knowledge. High energy level, comfortable performing multifaceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities. Excellent interpersonal abilities; ability to get along with diverse personalities; tactful, and flexible. Good reasoning abilities and sound judgment. Resourceful, well organized, highly dependable, efficient and detailed oriented. Ability to establish credibility and be decisive, but be able to recognize and support the organization’s preferences and priorities. Service oriented, but assertive/persuasive. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees and management personnel.

Physical Requirements
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is frequently required to sit. Must be able to travel frequently. This work is performed in various climate-controlled retail stores, occasionally in cooler or freezer, and occasionally at a loading dock or warehouse with temperatures vary from very cool to very warm. This work requires driving vehicle daily under all types of weather conditions. The air may be dusty when dusting shelves and product. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is subject to a typical office environment and is rarely exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
